So, I'm up for trying xanga blogging again... but it's going to be hard to post actual post-length things & not FB status-length things!

Mark isn't feeling well & is asleep in bed, after taking some nighttime cold medicine. Judson is asleep now, too. I should be enjoying the quiet, but right now I want some ice cream! Haha.
And today I had a weird (and bad) stomach ache after eating this salad I had for lunch. Last time I ate that salad, the same thing happened, but I thought it was because some of the food was bad. Apparently not. Now I don't want to touch it with a 10-foot pole! Bummer, because I liked that salad alot! Wish I knew what was causing it.
In other news, our desktop computer is kaput.
I'm hoping we can get it fixed somehow... all those pictures, not to mention our financial records... scary! So, I'm having to use the lap top in one certain spot in the house where we can pick up wireless. But it's slooooow. What am I complaining about, though? Life could be alot worse! One last thing... yesterday I compiled a book of pics of Judson for our friends, Karen & John Mark, to take with them to Ethiopia to give to J's nanny from the transition home. I hope she likes it. She loved him alot & I don't want her to think that her love & care for him has been forgotten. I probably should have done it alot sooner, but I'm glad at least she'll get something! John Mark & Karen are going to pick up their new 7-year old son, & to meet their soon-to-be daughter, who is 6. They'll have to make a separate trip to get her in a month or two. I am super-excited for them! They live here in Owensboro, & JM is the youth pastor at Bridgepointe.
Okay, so this is the first post in forever, & I will wrap it up now. Once I figure out how to get some pics from my FB inbox saved or copied & pasted, I will post them here...
toodloo!
One pic added... :)

Well, we're back, & we had a great time! It was so nice to get away, even if it was just for one night & we didn't go very far. (If you're clueless, see my last post.) If any of you decide to try it, I'd love to hear about it!
I just saw this article by Alex Chediak on the Gender Blog (by the Council for Biblical Manhood & Womanhood) & thought it was so helpful--brief, but very good! I'm really putting this quote on my blog for myself more than anything else, but I thought maybe some of you would enjoy it, too!
Be sure to read the whole thing, though! :)
But a truly feminine demeanor does not prohibit acting on the occasional need to strongly disagree with a man or with one's husband. Femininity does not deny or exclude intelligence, rationality, and an ability to make a convincing argument. In a marriage relationship, a strong wife is an asset to her husband. She can give him insightful feedback, expand his horizons to matters he may not have considered, and lovingly rebuke him when he is sinning.
What a godly wife aims for at such moments is an attitude that, while affirming his leadership, seeks to sharpen it. She is not seeking to take advantage of his weaknesses by usurping his leadership. Rather, she wishes to encourage, advise, correct, and rebuke to the end that his leadership might be enhanced, his effectiveness increased, his capacities enlarged. "She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life" (Prov. 31:12). At the end of the day, such a woman can submit to her husband knowing that he ultimately bears the responsibility before God for their relationship.

Short Little Post #5
I thought I was finished with my short little posts, but I find myself with material for one more...
In addition to Pastor Sam, Mark has also done interviews with Dr. Rich Barcellos (prof & pastor), Keith Maddy (pastor), Mike Crawford (pastor friend), & there's one coming probably tomorrow with Steve Hartland. He asks them all the same questions, & it's interesting to compare/contrast their answers, and to get to know these men a little better. They're fairly short. See the interviews here.
I still need to do an update post on Judson, but that will be longer than a "short little post." Maybe I'll have time this week...
Now for other matters... I'm reminded again today of how little time I have compared to pre-baby.
Actually, the time is the same, I just don't have nearly the amount of "free" time I used to have, which produces its own set of problems... but more on that later. I was trying to catch up today on reading articles/blogs, & there's no way I have time to read all that I want to read... ugh. There's so much good stuff out there, & I don't have time for it all! But that is due to my wise Lord's kind providence in my life. I have new responsibilities! (And I do love them.)
But this got me thinking...
What blogs/websites to you read the most, or which ones are your favorites?
Why?
How have they influenced you?I'll try to list some of my favorites on here in an upcoming post, but I'm interested in hearing what you all have to say!
Enjoy the glorious weather, everybody! (At least it's gorgeous here in KY!)

Short Little Post #4
Mark did a short interview with our Pastor Sam. Check it out here. Second thing... I've been trying to sing some hymns to Judson as lullabies, ever since we came home with him. It's been helpful for me to have to memorize 5 verses each of 2 hymns so far (Of the Father's Love Begotten & Give to Our God Immortal Praise). I like it that he's hearing/sort-of-learning hymns, too.
Covenant Life Church is also memorizing some great hymns, one a month. I think I might try to jump on board with them, using their plan (or slightly tweaking it) for Judson's lullabies...

From their website:
For 10 months, we as a church family are participating in a season devoted to learning great hymns of the faith. Memorizing hymns is one of the ways we can obey Scripture’s command to “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16).We’re doing this project because we want to benefit not only from the songs written in our lifetime, but also from hymns that have served the people of God for generations and will endure long after we’re gone. They are time-tested and true. They speak to every circumstance of life and point us to the wisdom, love and power of our gracious God and Savior.
Each month, we will highlight a different hymn in corporate worship and seek to learn it together by memory. We encourage you to sing these hymns with your family, your Care Group, and on your own to drive these truths deep in your heart.
If you're interested, consider a free download of their hymns, so you can be learning them, too. (They also have background info on each of the hymns, so check it out! Just click on the hymn title for more info.) I'm familiar with all of them, & could sing most of the verses if prompted, but I've found that I can't always come up with the words when I'm in a dark room with my son.
Purposefully trying to memorzie the words has proved helpful for me & I've even had some good times of worship as I'm trying to soothe my son.

Okay... maybe this post wasn't quite so short or little.
